Wondering what to do with your 13th Month Pay? These tips might help you!

Got your 13th month pay and Christmas bonus already?

Praise God for His overflowing provision and sustenance in your life!

Now, you might be thinking how you can spend it wisely

Before you decide, consider these practical tips Financial Consultant and Stock Market Trader Marvin Germo suggests to help you make the most out your hard-earned money:

Have the right mindset toward money

Sure, you deserve to reward yourself for working hard this year. But before you swipe that card or click add to cart, you may want to pause for a while and ask yourself: What are your financial and life goals?

Do you want to prosper? Are you aiming to secure that dream home or car? Are you hoping to save up for an emergency or for something big in the future?

The idea of delayed gratification can often be so difficult to digest, but it all boils down to having the right mindset toward money

“A lot of people want to get rich. But what they don’t see is that prosperity starts with the mind, the right mindset. Prosperity starts with having the right attitude on how you treat your money. It’s also a process. There’s a discipline involved into it,” Marvin explains.

Be faithful with what you have

  1. 10,000. 1 Million.

It barely matters how much you have right now. What matters most is your attitude toward the blessing that is entrusted to you.

Are you faithful as to where and how you spend it? As business magnate Henry Ford once put it, “Money doesn’t change men, it merely unmasks them.

Marvin reminds that there is a Biblical facet to it, “You have to start from where you are, even the Bible says it. If you’re faithful with little, you’ll be faithful with much.”

Budget your money wisely

One dayman splurges on everything he wanted. The next day, he’s left with nothing.

Sounds like a familiar story, right?

It’s so familiar to us Filipinos that in fact, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas found out in a 2019 survey that 47% of adult Filipinos do not save money. Either they earn just enough, or they prefer to spend than to save.

To dodge the “one day millionaire” bullet, the financial expert encourages you to plan carefully on how you are going to use your money and be intentional isetting aside small portions of it. Start saving and investing for the long term!

Regardless of how much money you have, set aside a specific amount. Be faithful to save up that amount on a regular basis and be amazed on how your savings will grow over time. It’s about your discipline of doing things over and over again,” Marvin ended.

It’s never too late to achieve a more secure future for you and your loved ones. Thank God, your 13th month pay or Christmas bonus could be your square one!

Pray for wisdom, that you may carefully and wisely handle your resources now – so you won’t end up leaving things to fate in 2021.

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” (Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV)
