Helping Kababayans Recover Better | Human Rights Day 2020

Today is Human Rights Day!

While human rights equate to advancing equality, peace, and justicehuman rights also mean securing people of their basic needs such as food, housing, and education.

However, the current pandemic and the recent disasters have robbed people – especially the most vulnerable kababayans of their basic rights and the chance to live a decent, comfortable life.

This Human Rights DayCBN Asia and our humanitarian arm – Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines  celebrate and advocate for the human rights of all Filipinos. Here are 6 simple ways on how you can stand up with us and make a difference bit by bit each day:

1. Stand up for adequate food and freedom from hunger

Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights cited food as one of the basic rights of every individual. Sadly, food now becomes a privilege to many underserved Filipino families.

When the pandemic started to raze the Philippines and when super typhoons battered some parts of the country, many people were left unsure of where to get their next meal. Operation Blessing, through its #OBAgainstCOVID initiative, continues to provide nonstop relief efforts to ensure that the most vulnerable communities won’t have to endure hunger.

You too, can stand up against hunger! Partner with Operation Blessing today to bless more families with adequate food and other much-needed items.

2. Stand up for shelter

Imagine not having a secure place to live in. Imagine being homeless in a time of pandemic while a strong typhoon devastates your community.

This time, imagine being the person that gives hope to people who are in these actual situations. You can do more than dream about making this world a better place!

With your simple gift to Operation Blessing, you can help make sure that families who lost their homes because of the recent tragedies would soon have a roof over their heads. You can help provide shelter materials and even a new, safer home to your kababayans in need!

3. Stand up for education

Lack of education is one of the grim realities the Filipino youth face since time immemorial. Yet as time goes by, education remains to be a faraway dream for those who weren’t given the opportunity.

The good news? You have the power to change the status quo!

You can give them the opportunity to better their lives through education, by supporting Operation Blessing’s Back-to-School program and One Student, One Gadget campaign! Both programs aim to provide educational assistance to underprivileged yet deserving students, so they can make the most out of their lives – even during the pandemic!

The road to recovery and progress is not a straight path. It is long and full of challenges. But through your help, our kababayans can recover better. As everyone stands up and becomes vessels of God’s love and grace, the Filipinos can always build back – better, stronger, and more resilient.

Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8-9 ESV)
