Your Faithful Giving Helps Typhoon Ambo Survivors Get Back on Their Feet

To Maribell Varas, the grief she felt when her husband died during the onslaught of Typhoon Ambo cannot be put into words.

When the raging winds started to raze the Day Care Center where they temporarily took shelter, Maribell and her whole family decided to evacuate.

As the walls collapse, her husband tried to break the glass windows and bring his family to a safe place. However, the broken glass injured him badly. Even before rescue came in, halready lost a lot of blood, and eventually died.

The pain and worry are just too much to handle for Maribell. She is grieving, and at the same time, worrying about the future of their 5 children who lost their father amid a pandemic.

“I lost my husband. We lost our home. I don’t know how I can raise our children on my own. I cannot leave them to find a job, because I have to take care of my youngest who is just 2 months old,” Maribell uttered.

They are stuck in another evacuation center, wondering how they can rebuild their lives and for the moment, where to get their next meal.

That is why it is a huge relief for Maribell and her kids when the Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines – CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm – reached out to their community in San Policarpo, Eastern Samar.

Maribell and over a thousand of Typhoon Ambo survivors received much-needed food items, hygiene kits and other basic commodities. The team also offered prayers and message of hope to comfort the affected families.

“Thank you very much, Operation Blessing. I hope that you can help more people like us for the Lord,” Maribell said, expressing her gratitude for the help they received.

Disaster. Pandemic. Poverty. To Maribell and other underprivileged families, braving these challenges all at the same time could stir fear, sadness, and hopelessness.
