Calling All Men! Here are 3 Reasons Why You Need a Mentor

Admit it or not, men, you have the tendency to take matters into your own hands and deal with your struggles by yourselves.

But then, God did not create you to be alone and bear all your burdens. You need brothers who will speak over your life to help you grow, mature, and reach your full potential in God.

It is clear in Proverbs 24:5-6 ESV, “A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counsellors there is victory.”

Here are Beyond Small Talk hosts Peter Kairuz, Erick Totañes, and Jan Manual to share with you 3 reasons why you need a mentor in life.

  1. Feedback

You need someone who can help you assess yourself. You need a man of God who will be honest enough to tell you when you are wrong and help in directing you to the way of wisdom and right path.

It is difficult to pinpoint your shortcomings. A constructive feedback from a fellow will help keep you on track.

  1. Acceptance

A mentor or accountability person is someone who will not judge you for who you are now but rather help you become who you are meant to be.

As Peter Kairuz puts it, “When you isolate yourself, you give room for the enemy to plant thought bombs in your head.” These thought bombs can go off anytime and can kill your spirit. However, a mentor knows that you are still a work in progress, and he will go with you through the highs and lows of life. He will also let you know what you still need to improve on.

  1. Vulnerability

A real man is unafraid to expose his weaknesses.

You need a brother in life who you can be vulnerable with and unreservedly admit that you are struggling.

Real strength does not come from an arrogant stature nor a proud look but from a humble and teachable heart. It is recognizing that you are limited and that you need an unlimited God to move in and through youand accept the people He has appointed in your life.

There are so many things that God wants to reveal to you! Find out more in the next webisode of Beyond Small Talk this Saturday, July 4, 2020, on The 700 Club Asia Facebook page and YouTube channel.
