The Christmas trees are down, the streets are silent, and there are no more parties to look forward to. The holidays are officially over.

How are you feeling?

Perhaps, you’re one of those who are lonely and depressed because, now, you have to face the reality after celebrating with your family and friends

How do you overcome post-holiday depression?

Beyond Small Talk hosts have helpful tips to answer that. Check them out below.

1. Do not deny your negative emotions.

“Realize that all of us go through manageable loneliness or anxiety,” said Beyond Small Talk host, Archie Dela Cruz.

So, what you need to do is to embrace and acknowledge that you are suffering from these negative emotions because that is the only time that you can discover true healing and help yourself.

2. Choose the right people who will journey with you.

Although the seemingly right response to painful emotions is to isolate yourselfunderstand that it should be the other way around.

“You should be surrounding yourself with people all the more”, advised Beyond Small Talk hosts.

Surround yourself with your loved one, best friend, or significant other – people who are willing to journey with you as you struggle. As Proverbs 17:17 NKJV described, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

3. Write the blessings you received this year.

There is so much to be grateful for!

Find a quiet place, sit down, ponder on the blessings you received this year, and write it down. By doing this, you will discover how God has been good and faithful to you. It does not have to be a grandiose event that had happened before you consider it a blessing. Your life, family, and job are blessings that sometimes you overlook.

Also, journaling decreases the tendency for you to be withdrawn and lonely.

4. Record your faith goals.

No matter how tough this year has been, remember that you have a God who restores what is broken and redeems what has been stolen.

You can still believe God for your breakthrough and you can start now by writing your faith goals.

It says in 1 John 5:14-15 NKJV, Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
