Now on its 5th year, the winners in 3 categories – Missionary, Individual, and Family, were chosen according to their positive impact in their families, workplaces, and communities, and how they emerged victorious over life’s challenges.

Amy Recto, who was hailed as the Huwarang OFW Missionary 2019 category winner, inspired many with her testimony of how God healed her from 3 kinds of cancers. After serving as a nurse in London, she is now being used mightily in preaching the gospel through organizing medical and evangelical missions in different countries.

Together with her husband Art, a pastor, they established Jesus Revive the Nation – a journey evangelist team that shares the Word to the world.

“It’s a massive word when you say Huwarang OFW. I think it’s for the Lord because He’s the only huwaran there is. Nevertheless, I feel that I am so blessed, and the Lord called me for a divine purpose. I will continue to reach the unreached people, to serve them medically and spiritually – a holistic approach in serving the Lord,” Amy shared.

Meanwhile, Jethroe Ramboyong, the Huwarang OFW Individual 2019 category awardee, pointed out the significance of sharing skills with others. Amidst the challenges he experienced in his career, Jethroe helped hone the abilities of fellow electronic engineers abroad when he spearheaded the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – UAE Chapter.

Their organization, Philippine Professional Organization, gives free reviews to Filipinos in Middle East who aim to pass licensure exams. With these efforts that help his kababayans, Jethroe received multiple recognitions here and abroad.

“I realized that God gave me this life because He wanted me to inspire, give hope, and make a difference for others. God is great as He showed me the real reason of my existence. With or without recognition, my plan is to leave a legacy by providing initiatives that will impact the lives of many in a positive way,” Jethroe expressed.

On the other hand, Jamie and Eden Serrano took home the Huwarang OFW Family category award after surpassing the hardships they experienced in United Kingdom as an architect and nurse. Active in reaching out to fellow Filipinos abroad, they became the senior business partners of the Frich Revolution, a movement that helps and inspires OFWs to better their lives through seminars and trainings for financial literacy and investments.

“You’re not successful if what you are doing is not something that makes a change in this world. I realized that I have to do this as a mission. If I was able to experience the best that I was longing for, I want to share that to my fellow Overseas Filipino Workers,” shared Eden.

Apart from the three major categories, Janeth Mores also received the People’s Choice Award for garnering the highest number of online votes. All Huwarang OFW 2019 winners received certificates, cash and in-kind prizes that they can use in blessing their families, churches and communities.

“We want to give hope to people by featuring your [OFW] stories – the stories of Huwarang OFWs. Most of the time, we hear sad OFW stories. Unknown to many, we receive a lot of stories that are inspiring – stories of hope, of victories, and triumph over difficulties. You’re not just Overseas Filipino Workers, you’re Overseas Filipino Witnesses,” ended Rebecca Cabral, Executive Producer of The 700 Club Asia and the Founder of Huwarang OFW.
