Stressed Out? Here’s What the Bible Says

The hard truth is – the Bible does not promise a stress-free life.

Although stress is not stated in the Bible, negative emotions are usually connected with it, such as worry, anxiety, and troubles.

Jesus forewarned in John 16:33 that in this world you will have many trials and sorrows.

It’s not always smooth sailing, but unforeseen storms in life will rock your boat, you will be hard pressed on every side, and your faith will be tested.

But thank God, Jesus did not end there.

He wants you take heart, be courageous, and anchor your faith in Him because you have a confident assurance that He has overcome the world.

What the Bible tells you is to rely on God’s Word because He is the One who will bring victory to your situation.

How else can you experience victory if you have not yet experienced defeat?

He promised in Deuteronomy 20:4 NIV, “For the Lord your God is the One who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Stress also teaches you to put your complete trust in Him. You can depend on Him because He is a loving Father, a mighty Defender, and a faithful God.

When your circumstances try to control and overwhelm your life, remind yourself Proverbs 3:5-6 TPT, “Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make. Become intimate with him in whatever you do, and he will lead you wherever you go.”

God also allows you to go through trials to shape your character, Peter Kairuz said.

Sit down with God and re-evaluate.

Instead of asking, “God, why is this happening to me?” change it to “God, what are you teaching me?”

Because maybe He is only teaching you to be more loving, more patient, more gentle, or more compassionate towards others and/or yourself.

No matter how big, how hopeless, how terrifying you think your problems are, Paula Salvosa capped it with a powerful word, “Jesus can meet you at the point of your need, if you will acknowledge that you need Him.”
