It was a transforming experience for The 700 Club Asia host Sonjia Calit as she went her way to be part of CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines’ (OB) medical missions outreach to attend to the needs of the Dumagat tribe at Sitio Kabuhuan in Brgy. Puray, Rodriguez, Rizal on April 12, 2019.

“I’m overflowed with joy that God used whatever is in my hand (talents and giftings) to meet the needs of our kababayans. This medical mission only fueled me to be more involved in outreaches in the future,” Sonjia shared.

Sonjia is a nurse by profession. She finished her degree in the US and worked there for more than 3 years.

When she went back to the Philippines, she switched careers. Thus, joining the entertainment industry.

Going with OB paved a way for her to practice her skills as a nurse after 9 years. She took vital signs of some patients and cleaned one’s wound.

“I’m grateful for the skills I learned. But more than that, it’s the opportunity to minister God’s heart that really made this medical mission memorable,” she said.

The television host and actress also shared that it was her first time to do an outreach with OB and considered this as an answered prayer, “It’s my prayer to join OB ever since because it’s different when you just watch it on TV. Now, witnessing first-hand the impact we’re making really blesses my heart to the full.”

“This medical mission is not cheap and you can see how excellent and careful CBN Asia is with stewarding God’s money,” she added.

Hundreds of Dumagat kids, adults, and families came expectant to the medical mission site and left with not just their physical bodies treated but also with lives restored as they now carry the Living Hope, Jesus Christ, in their hearts.

But then, moved by the situation of the Dumagats, Sonjia got convicted, “Yes, it’s a blessing to see this, but at the same time, it makes you think how much more people need help and more families need our generosity.”

The question is “God is doing something in His kingdom, will you be a part of it?” she concluded.

The answer is in your ‘yes.’
