3 Reasons to Pick your Bible Up and Start Reading it Today

January is the celebration of the National Bible Month. President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 124 in January 5, 2017, declaring the month of January as the National Bible Month.

3 Reasons to Pick your Bible Up and Start Reading it Today

It aims to celebrate the significant role of the Bible in national transformation. According to Philippine Bible Society, “Celebrating the Bible reminds the Filipino people of the primacy of God’s Word over their lives and decisions.”

So as this new year starts, why not make a bold decision like committing to read the Word of God throughout the year?

Here are 3 reasons why you should pick your Bible up and start reading it today:

  1. Reading the Bible reveals who God truly is

Mean people and bad experiences can give you a wrong view of God. But, the Bible will reveal the truth about His character. As some of these verses say, God is love (1 John 4:8), holy (Isaiah 6:3), and just (Psalm 25:8). He is ever faithful (2 Timothy 2:13), merciful (Titus 3:5), and constant (Hebrews 13:8).

  1. Reading the Bible helps you find your purpose in life

The Word of God contains the answer to your true identity, your purpose, and your passion. It says in Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”

  1. Reading the Bible helps you discover God’s promises

The Scripture is filled with God’s abundant promises. He promises to prosper you, give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). He is the God who keeps and fulfills whatever He has spoken (Philippians 1:6), and every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17).

Seeking God’s Word does not have to start and end with this celebration. As it is written in Matthew 6:33 (NKJV), “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

If you want this year to be memorable and make it your best year thus far, the wisest thing to do is to always read the Word of God.
