More than 200 families were given one pack each of goods, consisting of 6 kg rice grains, 6 canned goods, 6 packs instant noodles, 1 pack coffee, 1 pack powdered milk, and ¼ kg sugar in Maly Elementary School while almost 300 families received the relief goods in Justice Vicente Santiago Elementary School in Brgy. Ampid Dos.

“What happened to them was worse. Majority of them are illegal settlers living beside the river. Most of their houses were submerged in water. This usually happens when there are big typhoons. Most of them have trauma, when the rain starts to fall they already get scared,” Pastor Ariel from OB church partner Jesus, our Great Shepherd Church said in Filipino.

Aside from food items, Bibles were distributed to the adults who went through crisis counseling done in groups to help them process the traumatic experience they just went through.

“I am thankful for the counseling. I was feeling bitter with what happened to me and my children. I couldn’t save anything. But now, I feel better. The counseling helped me,” 28-year-old Manilyn Cañete, mother of an infant and a toddler, said.
