NUEVA ECIJA – The Disaster Response (DR) Teams of CBN Asia’s humanitarian arm, Operation Blessing (OB), provided relief goods to families affected by the recent typhoons and monsoon rains in Brgy. Aquino, Licab on July 26, 2018.

Operation Blessing DR teams braved the above-human flooded fields through the boats provided by the barangay, assisted by church partners, the AFP, and other non-government organizations (NGO).

This affected area that suffered from the Habagat rains caused by the recent typhoons is along Labong river, which serves as the catch basin of Central Luzon.

Due to pressure caused by flood from the higher areas, the river dike collapsed and caused the waters to flow to the surrounding sitios and purok.

This far-flung community, which is seldom reached but now given disaster aid, was very thankful for the counseling, distribution of Bibles, and the handling of relief packages containing 6 kilos of rice, noodles, assorted canned goods, coffee, sugar, and powdered milk.

One of the beneficiaries who lives with her daughter and 2 granddaughters, 57-year-old Mercy Arcega, was very grateful even though their house is still surrounded by floodwaters.

“I am thankful to Operation Blessing for giving us our daily needs at this time. This is a big help. The nurse from your team also attended to my sick granddaughter.” Mercy said in vernacular.

62-year-old Delia Cura and her husband who is a farmer, lost their primary source of income as their rice field went underwater but are delighted to hear encouragement from the Word of God.

“We are grateful that even if we went through something really bad, we got to receive the Word of God. Unlike others who only give, you also taught us not to be upset in times like this but to just call on God. That’s the difference, and it’s a relief that the Word of God was shared to us,” Delia said in Filipino.

The other groups such as the Licab Association of Ministries and Pastors, Rotary Club of Cabanatuan, Municipality of Licab, Nueva Ecija, New Life in Christ Worship Center, and the 69th Infantry Battalion and 7th Infantry Division of the AFP were also there to give a helping hand to the typhoon survivors.
