Rising from Bankruptcy | Josephine Dator Story

Bankrupted business and worries on the educational expenses for her children almost brought Josephine Dator to a nervous breakdown.

Josephine had a thriving duck business in Victoria, Laguna before storms struck their town, leaving her business to bankruptcy. The growing expenses for her children’s education heightens her family’s financial needs.

For this reason, Josephine and her husband decided to work abroad. From being the hotel guests that they were, they became the hotel cleaners and they realized how far their life fell.

But then, Josephine and her husband did not lose hope. They moved forward in sacrifice for the sake of their children and chose to hold on to the promises of God.

God blessed Josephine and her husband as they continued to work hard. Gradually, they got back up to their feet and 3 of their children have already graduated college. Also with the help of God, their duck business was revived.

Life is a series of ups and downs but there is one sure in any circumstance – God is always faithful and He is never changing. Just like what Josephine realized, material things are unreliable. God is the only One you can depend on.

1 Timothy 6:17-18 reminds, “Give this command to those who are rich with the things of this world. Tell them not to be proud. Tell them to hope in God, not their money. Money cannot be trusted, but God takes care of us richly. He gives us everything to enjoy.”
