God’s Love is where your heart finds its Home | Monica Vicente Story

Monica loved her dad with all her heart. He was her foundation, her inspiration, and her sole motivation to be a better person. So when he was shot dead, her life got messed up.

Grief and sorrow overtook Monica. The pain of losing her father affected her studies and her interests.

Like a ship without a captain, Monica wandered in the sea of desperation, searching for something that would fill her grieving soul.

She tried to find comfort from her friends who eventually influenced her with vices like drinking and smoking. Still disoriented, Monica’s search for love and sense of belonging led her to having a relationship with a married man for 9 years until she decided to let go of the affair.

After 9 months, she entered a new relationship with no reservation, thinking that it was the right one.

But then, it wasn’t.

One day she received a message from the man’s “girlfriend” and found out that the guy has been in a relationship with another woman for 5 years.

When the truth came out in the open, the man left her.

For the 2nd time, the pain she felt when her father died dawned at her like a nightmare repeating itself. She lost someone she held dear. Again.

It was in this season of brokenness when Monica found her hope.

Invited by her sister to attend a Christian church, Monica began seeking, praying, and listening to God’s Word. Though the pain within her was great, God slowly healed and changed her heart.

One day while driving her car, God spoke to her.

“I am loved by God. He doesn’t want me to settle for that kind of love,” Monica shared. “That day my prayer changed. I surrendered everything to Him. I surrendered the pain,” she added.

Monica had been searching for a love that would complete and satisfy her. She suffered a great deal of pain along the way, but now, her heart finally found its home.

“I belong to God and that’s all that matters,” Monica said.

Challenges still come from time to time but Monica now holds in her heart this beautiful promise from God, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28 NIV
