What is Your Identity in the Eyes of God?

what-is-your-identityUnderstanding that your identity should be anchored on how the Lord sees you may be difficult especially that media advertisements and billboards that are almost everywhere seem to dictate what to believe about yourself.

The way you see yourself may also be greatly influenced by the people around you. Their character, their perceptions about you, and their judgments against you may have led them to label you names. These may have been imprinted on you and you may have been believing their words.

Moreover, there are a lot more factors that may affect how you deem yourself – your profession or educational degree, your role in your workplace or ministry, and your function in your family.

But then the question is, what does your Creator say about you in His word?

cross-silhouette-sunlightJohn 1:12-13 (NIV) says “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”

You are a child of God.

In addition, 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) says “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Aside from the fact that God created your inmost being and knitted you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13 paraphrased), you have been fully identified in Jesus Christ when you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior. You now belong to His chosen people. You are now a royal priesthood. You now belong to God and His holiness is in you.

praise-and-worshipThis is your identity. This is what God says about you. This is how God sees you. No matter what the world says and what the people around you say, this is who you are in Christ and the Bible proves it.

This is the truth about you, so you can now dispel all the lies that say otherwise.
