Drug Addiction – Not the Sweet Escape You Think It Is

Drug Addiction Not the Sweet EscapeRoses are red and Violets are blue. Why can’t I see them the way that you do? Everybody wants to look good, that’s what I want too. But what can I do, if my hair’s now few? I used to run miles, to travel and smile. But now I can’t afford even just a comfortable sigh. My kidneys are failing, so is my liver; did you know that I used to be a really good singer? I used to sing to my crying little daughter. But my drug addiction had taken its toll. Now I have nothing but a distorted voice, a distorted face, and a soul crying out for rescue.”

Are you familiar with these bittersweet words? Has this been your cry after choosing to depend on drugs for pleasure and other reasons you thought were valid?

Drug Addiction can steal memories that you are supposed to have – your quality time with your loved ones, your dreams and aspirations that keep you moving forward in life. All of these will be gone in an instant in exchange with that momentary pleasure that you get from substance abuse.

Are you sure you want this risky exchange?

“For you created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:13-14  (NIV)

God fearfully and wonderfully made you for a specific purpose. It is most often easy to look at the negative things around you, but the fact is that when you start counting your blessings you would surely have a lot on your list. Do not be deceived, you are blessed more than you could ever imagine.
