3 Reasons Why Giving Should be a Lifestyle

Are you guilty of feeling discomfort when you hear the word “give?”

Most people do.

Though it is common knowledge that giving is an act of kindness, most people find it overwhelming.

Here are 3 of the many reasons why giving should be a lifestyle:

hand-giving-gift1. God blesses you to bless others.

“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” – 2 Corinthians 9:8, NLT

God shows His faithfulness by providing for all your needs, and He wants you to imitate this attitude of generosity to extend His love to others.

2. You plant a seed whenever you give.

“Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.” – Mark 4:8, NIV

seeds-on-handThe blessings that you receive are not always just for you. There are times when they are to be like seeds that have to be planted on good soil in order to multiply.

Giving is sowing a seed of blessing on someone else’s life (the good soil) and not simply giving away what you are supposed to have. This planted seed will in turn grow and bear fruits that you will harvest. So, the more seeds you plant, the bigger your harvest.

3. God supplies your needs as you give.

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” – Luke 6:38, NLT

harvestWhenever God asks you to let go of what you currently have, he is preparing you to receive something bigger. As a good steward of His provision, your obedience will surely be rewarded.

“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.” – Proverbs 3:27, ESV

Giving should be a lifestyle because it means obedience, which is a key ingredient in loving God. It is one of the good works that we should do as His children. Our Father is generous, so should we be. It is also a way to trust Him as the Provider.

  • Evelyn G. Ocampo - Partner ID #332135

I believe in giving as a lifestyle. I also believe in planting and reaping but I also believe that God is the first One Who saw the seed first and foremost. We give because God have already blessed us abundantly. We cannot give what we don’t have. So my lifestyle giving is just my response to God’s unconditional love and faithfulness. I give for the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus and His Ministry. I believe I will never lack because He is the Good Shepherd (Psalm 23) . Giving should not be an option based on what we will receive from Him after our giving. He has already blessed us and we just have to share that blessings to others because it pleases God.

Praying for abundant supply to your Ministry. God bless you all!

  • Are we still under the law of which a Tithes of 10% from our income is required to be given back to God?
