Everything Will Be All Right

RODRIGUEZ, Rizal — Everyone has a different story to tell. And every person who walks along our way serves as a pen in writing good stories.

Rochelle and Mae are beneficiaries of Operation Blessing’s Feeding the Children—a feeding and nutrition program made in partnership with Union Church of Manila.

These two kids from Macabud Elementary School shared their stories on how the program helped and inspired them to reach their dreams.

“I am tired of poverty,” 10-year-old Rochelle told OB. She’s a Grade 4 student who dreams to be a teacher one day.

Her father is a construction worker in a nearby village and earns P200 for a day of work.

“I want to help Papa in providing for our family. He deserves a treat and a rest from all the good things he has done for us,” said the thoughtful daughter.

“Operation Blessing made us feel so special. They made every effort to make sure that we will gain weight this school year,” said Rochelle, who walks an hour every day to go to school.

“Thank you for preparing a bright future for us. I’m encouraged to strive more in my studies to end poverty in our family, believing that someday, everything is going to be all right.”

Mae is a good friend of Rochelle. She performs well in her studies, and she also wants to be a teacher to help and teach poor children in their community.

“I was walking on my way home and saw a kid sniffing rugby (a solvent). I promised myself that my younger brother won’t do the same,” Mae said full of determination. Her father is a security guard in a construction site, while her mother sells beauty products within their barangay. What they earn is just enough to sustain their everyday needs.

“OB taught us to say grace before touching our food. I also enjoyed eating together with my friends. It was as if every day is a holiday!” she joyfully exclaimed.

“I will surely miss OB! We will never forget all the things they did in our school and in our community,” Mae said with gratefulness in her heart. “I promise to finish school to be a good teacher someday!”

Because you cared for these children, Operation Blessing was able to feed 1,251 students in three different public schools in Montalban, full of hope that no matter what happens, everything will be all right now that they are properly nourished.
