What Controls Your Feelings?

The prophet Habakkuk complained a lot to God, yet be continued to rejoice in God even in desperate times.  His prayer in Habakkuk 3:17-18 shows us where his faith was anchored. “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” The crop failure and death of animals would devastate Judah during those times, but Habakkuk affirmed that even in times of starvation and loss, he would still rejoice in God. His feelings were not controlled by the events and circumstances around him but by his faith in God’s ability to give him strength. Let us not focus on our difficulties but look to God who is able to deliver.
