Let God Hold You by the Hand | Thelma Abril Story

Thelma was known to be a terror teacher in school. Students despised her. Parents disliked her. For them, she was nothing more than her harsh words and sharp looks.

But then, what people saw was just the surface.

Beyond Thelma’s strong personality lies a heartbreaking incident that shattered her into pieces but nobody seemed to care.

It all started one day when she found her husband lying in bed with his mistress. Shocked and pained from what she saw, she told everything to her mother-in-law hoping that she would receive support and comfort.

But to her dismay, all she gave was a superficial consolation that what happened is normal and the best thing to do is to let it go.

Later on, Thelma and her husband separated.

She began to hide her pain by being strict and cold-hearted. The anger and resentment within her overflowed to her relationships especially to her students.

For 7 years, Thelma kept all her bitterness toward her husband. Change started when she attended Bible school. where she deeply understood God’s love and forgiveness.

After surrendering all her pain, God started to transform her from the inside out.

Thelma learned how to relate to people with gentleness and love. She realized how beautiful life can be without harboring hate and unforgiveness in her heart.

After 25 years of waiting faithfully, Thelma’s biggest desire came to pass. Her husband returned.

“Don’t say ‘God I will hold on to you,’ because you might get tired of holding on and let go. Say ‘God hold me. Carry me,’ and your life will never be misled,” Thelma shares.

Are you on the verge of giving up in your situation?

Don’t. The Maker’s hand awaits. The question is, will you take His invitation?

“When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart, I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward you. Nevertheless I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.” – Psalm 73:21-24 ESV
