Is God Too Weak to Protect Me? | Nett Gochuico Story

The idea of God’s existence doesn’t appeal to Nett growing up.

“If there is a God, then He is a weak God because He cannot even protect a child,” he shared.

Nett Gochuico grew up in a home with a physically abusive father. Night after night, while drunk, Nett’s dad would put him inside a sack and would hit him like a punching bag.

To add to the misery, his mother didn’t do anything to protect him.

Because of the physical and emotional pain he experienced at an early age, Nett concluded that there is no God.

Later on, he managed to have a family of his own and got to a point of desperation when their daughter got Malaria. Her condition was severe that no medication seemed to work anymore.

To pray for the little girl, a friend of his wife who happened to be a son of a pastor visited and shared the Godpel to them.

Nett prayed the salvation prayer but his story of redemption is just beginning.

“And I said: ‘Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips,’ … Then one of the Seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, you’re your sin atoned for.’ ” – Isaiah 6:5a-7 ESV

Nett realized how great the love of God is for him. That even though his heart was filled with hatred and disbelief, God’s affection for him triumphed.

By God’s grace, Nett sincerely forgave his dad. All the hatred he had faded away and Nette was able to share teh gospel to him a month before his father died.

Nette is now the regional pastor of Christ’s Commission Fellowship for South Luzon.
