Want to Set an Appointment with God? – 3 Tips on how to do your Quiet Time

Every believer should make it a lifestyle to spend time with God daily simply because His people are called to thrive in this kind of fellowship with Him (1 Corinthians 1:9).

Are you ready to set appointment with God? Here are 3 tips.

Time for Quiet Time

1. Choose a Specific Time.

Choose a specific time to do your quiet time and stick to it. Some people prefer do their quiet time in the morning like what Jesus did as mentioned in Mark 1:35 NIV, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark,Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”

But still, it depends on what works best for you. Just remember, always give God the best time of your day. If setting an appointment for earthly meetings are possible, what more to the God of the universe?

Place for Quiet Time

2. Choose a Specific Place

Just like choosing a specific time, it is also important to choose a specific place where you can peacefully do your quiet time.

“We can have a quiet-time anywhere but not if we’re being distracted constantly by various intrusions,” bible.org points out.

If you want to maximize your quiet time, do it in a quiet place where you can freely pray aloud or worship. Quiet times are perfect opportunities to enjoy the presence of God without being interrupted.

Preparation for Quiet Time

3. Preparation

Prepare everything beforehand. Lifeway.com suggested to be all set even by the night before especially if you are doing your quiet time in the morning. Determine which book or chapter to read. You can also use a devotional as a guide. Prepare the things that you need, such as your Bible, pen, journal, and markers. But most especially, prepare your heart for God looks at your heart more than anything else (1 Samuel 16:7).

Come to His presence with praise and thanksgiving (Psalm 100:4). Be expectant for God will surely meet you wherever you are as you seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

Be reminded that you are a child of God and that He delights to spend time with you. Trust Him that He will give you the grace to be consistent as you desire to grow in your relationship with Him through your quiet time.
