Semmy Jemino | Huwarang OFW 2017 Family Nominee

Semmy Jemino went to the Middle East with one purpose – to find a work that would support the needs of her family.

But in her pursuit to fulfill this dream, she experienced a horrifying incident that threatened her security and her decision to stay in this foreign country.

One day, while doing her household duties, the brother of her boss attempted to rape her.

Though traumatized by the incident, Semmy still finished her employment contract in the Middle East, and moved to Hong Kong where she was able to work in a safer environment.

Then a revival happened in her heart. She encountered God again.

Semmy now loved God with a new heart. The emotional pain of leaving her family behind to work abroad will always make her sad and lonely but she understood that despite all these, God has been with her and has been her comfort and safe refuge.

After saving enough money for her family’s future, Semmy decided to go back in the Philippines to be with her husband and 2 daughters for good.

Later on, God blessed them with Jesus and Me Christian School in Rodriguez, Rizal. Semmy now lives a joyful and fulfilling life with her family.

After all that had happened to her, Semmy realized that there will always be challenges that would come in one’s life. But at the end of the day, God will prove Himself faithful and will reward us accordingly.

What the Bible says in James 1:12 NIV is true, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
