Rex Dioquino and his family were celebrating the New Year’s Eve to welcome 1996 when a massive fire disaster hit their community.
After hearing a loud bang, Rex looked outside their house and found their neighbor’s house on fire.
He knew what he needed to do.
Rex remembered what his pastor friend has been sharing to them for a long time. He suddenly felt a prompting to pray. So without hesitation, Rex led his family in a very sincere prayer for safety and protection.
The fire was slowly consuming his neighbor’s residence. In a matter of minutes, the same will most likely happen to their house.
But right at that time, something life changing happened to Rex. He had an encounter with the One who is only capable of saving him from this seemingly inescapable disaster.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” – Isaiah 43:2 NIV
This is what the Lord promised to the Israelites but at that night, Rex had a glimpse of it and knew from then on that no one deserves his life and dedication but God alone.
God can and will always protect us in time of distress and disaster. In Him we can surely find help and salvation.
