Oftentimes, abusers were once abused themselves. They simply redo what was done to them. People who were abused during childhood usually have the most serious problems later in life because of unresolved and unraveled pain in the past.
Witness the beauty of God’s deliverance in Daisy’s life story. Daisy was abused by her stepfather who was once kind to her. Later on, she poured out her wrath for her stepfather toward her stepsister. Daisy resorted to vices and different relationships but when God’s extravagant love changed and restored her heart, she learned to forgive and love others; even her stepsister.
Despite her painful experiences, God gave her beauty for ashes, which is God’s grandest exchange. Many people around the world have been hurt, wounded, abused, and abandoned; leaving parts of their hearts like ashes.
The fires of sexual, verbal, and physical abuses burn down self-worth, dignity, and security to dust. However, didn’t God created humans from dust? He made something good out of it and it is not impossible for Him to create beauty out of the dust of life. God can recreate dusts and reform to its original beauty.
The Bible says God can give you beauty for ashes.
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord has anointed me; to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give Beauty for Ashes; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that he may Glorified.” – Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV
