If you are a member of a local church, it is important to keep in mind that not only the pastors, deacons, and administrators have an important role to fulfill.
The bible says in Romans 12:4-5, “For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
You also have a specific function that would help the church flourish, making it an effective example of God’s “manifold wisdom” (Ephesians 3:10).
Here are the 3 things that you have to keep in mind;
1. Volunteer in a ministry
Do not settle in being a church goer. Join a ministry in your church that best fits the talents and the gifts that God has given to you because this builds the church up (Ephesians 4:11-13).
2. Submit to those who are in the authority
While we avoid being legalistic, it is also essential to follow our leaders to keep the church in order. By doing this, we help them do their job “with joy and not with groaning,” (Hebrews 13:17).
3. Join a small group and help proclaim the Gospel to the lost
The Bible says in Hebrews 10:25 not to neglect “to meet together” and “encouraging one another”.
Small groups are an ideal environments where lives could be shared and the Word of God is taken as the primary source of wisdom and instruction in dealing with life.
As a believer, being a part of a small group is important as it equips you in your walk with the Lord and in fulfilling the Great Commission that Jesus has entrusted to us (Matthew 28:16-20).
But above all these points, remember that love is still the best inspiration in doing things for Christ and for the church because it “binds everything together in perfect harmony (Colossians 3:14).
Do everything in love (1 Corinthians 16:14). After all, the service that you do for the church is also a service for God because He is the Head of the Church (Colossians 1:18). Therefore, let all your labor be just an overflow of your love for Christ because for Him, what matters most is your heart.
