Operation Blessing Calls Everyone to Bless Luzon

Back-to-back typhoon and monsoon rains in the Philippines have already surpassed the deluge brought by 2009’s Typhoon Ondoy, the worst flooding in the country’s recent memory.

After days of flooding spawned by Typhoon Gener, Operation Blessing, the humanitarian arm of CBN Asia, was able to serve 400 displaced families in the towns of Angono in Rizal and Obando in Bulacan.

But an enhanced monsoon continues to drench the nation even with Gener long gone. Nonstop rains beginning Monday night have overwhelmed rivers and waterways, putting many low-lying areas at high risk.

As of this writing, provinces in Luzon and majority of Metro Manila are already submerged in floodwaters at least 3 meters deep, leaving the country’s capital in a standstill.

While most residents have made pre-emptive evacuation, many flooded communities were still caught off guard, with families awaiting rescue on rooftops.

Today, Operation Blessing began mobilizing efforts to help more Filipinos affected by the massive floods. For our initial efforts, a team went to Montalban, Rizal to conduct rescue and relief operations with the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Mats, blankets, and food were given to displaced families to keep them warm as the rains continue to pour.

You can help more affected families by providing them with a food package, a hygiene kit, or a set of mats and blankets.

With your donation of 500 pesos, you can feed a family of five for 4 to 5 days, protect them from acquiring diseases that are common in evacuation sites, and keep them warm and cared for in their most difficult time.

They need your help NOW. You can donate through the following methods:
