CBN Asia Prayer Center’s recent team building activity turns green as prayer counselors hiked the highlands of Barangay Sto. Niño in Tanay, Rizal for a tree planting activity.
Dubbed “Plant for Life,” the eco-friendly office retreat not only instilled environment awareness among the Center’s “prayer warriors.” The staff also came to appreciate local reforestation efforts and share in the green advocacy of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) who helped organize the event.
To make the activity more worthwhile, the Prayer Center was joined by students from Culiat High School in Tandang Sora, Quezon City. The school’s environment club, Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YESO), teamed up with the counselors to plant seedlings in an uphill slope in Barangay Sto. Niño.
“We just want to seize the moment and have fun outdoors with these students,” said Ancel delos Santos, shift leader from the Prayer Center. “At the end of the day, we had extraordinary joy because of this experience.”
He added, “The students gained new older sisters and brothers. The teachers, with their heads, also came to know us, and they even plan to solicit our assistance in their need for values formation in their school.”
The Prayer Center is a 24/7 lifeline of Christian Broadcasting Network Asia for Filipinos who need spiritual guidance and Bible-based advice. They are manned by phone-based prayer counselors who underwent strict training to provide hope and encouragement to callers from different walks of life at any time of the day.
