Shining Like Stars Forever

A Teaching by Pat Robertson, Chairman and Founder, CBN

Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers. ~ Ephesians 6:18

Sometimes we may pray for a long period of time and wonder, Has God heard my prayer? Yes, He has—even though it may take awhile for us to receive the answer!

This happens to the prophet Daniel, who had fasted and prayed for three long weeks. At the end of 21 days, he has a vision of a man so huge and magnificent that Daniel falls facedown to the ground in a faint while his companions flee in terror.

A Magnificent Vision
Daniel 10:5-6 says the heavenly being was dressed in linen clothing, with a belt of pure gold around his waist. His body looked like a dazzling gem. From his face came flashes like lightning, and his eyes were like flaming torches. His arms and feet shone like polished bronze, and his voice was like the roaring of a vast multitude of people.

The man touches Daniel, lifts him to his knees, and assures him of the Lord’s love and care, saying: Daniel, you are very precious to God, so listen carefully to what I have to say to you. Stand up, for I have been sent to you…. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven (Daniel 10:11-12).

We Must Stand Firm
God loves us and hears our prayers! We must simply stand firm in our faith and trust Him until we receive His answers.

As James 1:5-6 tells us, If you need wisdom—if you want to know what God wants you to do—ask him, and he will gladly tell you…. But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea.

Prayer Is Warfare
Daniel’s prayers are answered, but only after a raging battle in the spiritual realm. The man from heaven tells him, I have come in answer to your prayer. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia (Daniel 10:12-13).

Finally, the man is able to deliver God’s message and reveal many things about the future to Daniel, saying: At that time Michael, the archangel who stands guard over your nation, will arise. Then there will be a time of anguish greater than any since nations first came into existence. But at that time every one of your people whose name is written in the book will be rescued. Many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting disgrace (Daniel 12:1-2).

We Will Shine Like Stars
He concludes, Those who are wise will shine as bright as the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever (Daniel 12:3).

We should never fear the future because God holds it in His hands. Yes, there will be tribulation, but He has wonderful plans for us. Death is not the end; there will be a resurrection! Our destiny is to live with Him forever in heaven.

That is why we must persevere in prayer, asking God for wisdom so we might do His will and lead multitudes into His kingdom—where we will rejoice with Him and shine like stars for all eternity. God bless you!
