Ministering to Ministers Goes to Bicol

Ministers, quite often, are so busy that they are caught up in their work in ways that cause them to lose sight of their lives in God.

“Pastors work hard all year to serve God and people that their personal lives are neglected,” says Peter Kairuz, CBN Asia President and CEO. “Sometimes we forget that pastors need to be ministered to as well.”

Last March 19 and 20, the CBN Asia Family of Ministries held the Ministering to Ministers (M2M) event for much-embattled pastors and their wives serving the Bicol region.

Close to 200 couples from different churches and denominations from the provinces of Albay, Masbate, and Sorsogon attended the seminar in Legazpi City, while 113 couples from Camarines Sur participated in the M2M in Naga City.

Peter and Christine Kairuz, the powerful husband-and-wife tandem, were the seminar’s resource speakers. They shared advice on keeping the marriage going strong and gave practical tips to help couples express the language of love to one another.

“The seminar was a big success and was very fruitful,” commented Pastor Sonny Magsalon, M2M coordinator in Legazpi City. “Some of the participants clamored for another seminar soon,” he said.

The seminar also had a profound effect on the participants.

Nestor, a pastor from Masbate, said he was reminded of his responsibility not just as a pastor but also as a husband. “I was reminded of how God cares about marriages and how He uniquely created it,” he said.

A couple from Naga City shared they were re-enlightened and reminded about the covenant they have made. Now they’re excited to share all the wonderful lessons they’ve learned to all the couples in their church.

“The seminar helped us renew our commitment as husband and wife,” said one pastor from Camarines Sur. He was quick to point his shortcomings and said that during the seminar he asked forgiveness from his wife.

A pastor’s wife from Masbate testified that the seminar enlightened her as a wife and her obligations and responsibilities to her husband.

“I was very blessed,” declared Pastor Deo of Albay. “The seminar was a very rewarding experience for me and my wife,” he said, adding that Peter and Christine’s talk was terrific.

Just before the end of the seminar, every couple was led to a prayer of recommitment and renewal. Many were touched in a wonderful way. Some couples prayed in between tears.

In Naga City, Ministering to Ministers was held at Villa Caceres Hotel, where a memorandum of agreement between Asian Center for Missions and Bicol Ministerial Fellowship was signed on the same day, signifying their commitment to the Great Commission.

Every couple who attended the M2M in Legazpi and Naga received books, compliments of Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines. They all had a wonderful time and went home refreshed—with renewed vigor and enthusiasm—looking forward to the next M2M.
